This describes the new features of Crudetype V3. I assume the flag character is
'/' as in VMS, other systems use other flags.
1. Two flavours of screen view. /b tries to generate a file suitable for
examination on a terminal (must be 132 chars wide for most TEX formats). The
most important change is that no over-struck characters can be shown, so (for
example the empty set symbol will appear as just O instead of O over-struck
with / and the multiply sign as / instead of / over-struck with \ . I
have made a slight attempt to fix various bugs that non-overstriking introduces;
e.g. in some fonts the less-equal sign ( normally < over-struck with _ ) would
appear just as < so I made it appear as <= .
2. /i produces immediate output on the terminal. Note that this is very
system-dependent. I made it work on VMS and some types of Unix but there is no
way I can possibly make it work on any other system without access to a machine
of that type. /i can be given an argument, e.g. /i40 . This says that your
terminal is 40 lines long. Default = 20. /i0 means infinite.
3. Separate horizontal ( /x ) and vertical ( /y ) magnifications. the old
/m is retained for compatibility only; if you give both /m and /x or /y
they all take effect. With circle.tex for example, /x150 looks much better
than /m150 .
